About InterMission HTX

The Pause That Moves You Forward

"Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." — Mark 6:31

Our Story

Built Around an Invitation

InterMission HTX was founded on a conviction: that the most countercultural act available to a busy person is the decision to stop — on purpose — and spend time with God. Not because life slowed down. Because you chose to.

The word InterMission is intentional. A mission is a purpose, a calling, a sent life. An intermission is the pause in the middle — the moment between acts when you breathe, reset, and prepare for what comes next. At InterMission HTX, we believe the pause is not a break from the mission. The pause IS the mission.

We are a fully virtual church — which means we were not built for a building. We were built for people. Wherever you are, whatever your schedule looks like, whatever brought you here today — you belong. Come as you are. Stay as long as you need. Come back next Sunday.

Lead Pastor

Dr. Marilyn R. Haynes
"Pastor Mal"

Dr. Marilyn R. Haynes — known throughout her community as Pastor Mal — is the founder and lead pastor of InterMission HTX, a virtual church under Senyah Inc. A McComb, Mississippi native with deep Pike County roots, she was raised in Baertown and is a proud member of the MHS Class of 1994.

Professionally, Pastor Mal serves as a CTE Coordinator II at Houston Independent School District, overseeing Arts/AV Technology, Communications, and Cosmetology/Personal Care Services pathways. She is also a doctoral candidate in Career and Technical Education at Texas A&M University, and the founder of multiple education, workforce development, and ministry institutions under Senyah Inc.

As a scholar-practitioner, her faith and professional work are deeply integrated. She is the author of seven published books across fiction, leadership, and ministry genres, a motivational speaker with a TED Talk in development, and the architect of frameworks including the DartBoard Method™, the CRAFT Prompting Framework™, and VitalBridge™.

She built InterMission HTX around the theology of Mark 6:31 — the intentional pause. Spending time with God on purpose. Not as withdrawal or isolation. As deliberate, purposeful communion that changes everything that comes after it.

Our Faith

What We Believe

InterMission HTX is a non-denominational, evangelical Christian church. These are the convictions that anchor everything we do.

01

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God — the final standard for faith and practice.

02

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in nature, distinct in person.

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man — born of a virgin, lived without sin, crucified for our sins, raised bodily on the third day, and coming again.

04

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is a gift — not earned, not maintained by works, but received.

05

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, producing transformation, empowering ministry, and guiding us into all truth.

06

The Church

We believe the church is the Body of Christ — made up of all who have trusted Him — and is called to worship, teach, and love one another and the world.

07

Prayer

We believe prayer is not a formality. It is the posture of a soul that knows it needs God — and we take it seriously.

08

The Return of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ will return personally, visibly, and bodily — and that every person will stand before God in judgment.
